Vondelpark Open Air Theatre
May through to September
Running through may until September every year, Vondelpark hosts the open air theatre, boasting an eclectic programme filled with musicals, stand up comedy, festivals, dance shows, Children’s theatre and many genres of music. Entry is free but donations are appreciated.
Amsterdam Gay Pride
End of July – Early August
Colourful, inclusive and world famous, Amsterdam gay pride is one of the must-see celebrations in the city. With the famous canal parade and a host of interesting and varied events, you won’t regret seeing Amsterdam painted with such vivacious spirits and character.
New years
End of December
No matter what your budget or travel style, Amsterdam is a great city to ring in the new year. The area lends itself to impromptu street parties, warm and inviting celebrations and fantastical festivities. The Oosterdok is the official area of the city celebrations complete with an awe-inspiring fireworks display, although you won’t be short of displays to watch. A good area to catch illuminated skyline is the Magere Brug. You won’t be lacking in things to do on New Years Eve in Amsterdam.
